A step by step process of how to become Third Party Certificated and BAFE Registered to the BAFE SP207 Design, Installation, Commissioning and Maintenance of Evacuation Alert Systems Scheme can be found below.

Please Note

The BAFE SP207 Design, Installation, Commissioning and Maintenance of Evacuation Alert Systems Scheme Document outlines all the requirements for gaining BAFE SP207 Registration (see Downloads). The step by step information below is an outline of the process.

Important Information - Modular Scheme
The SP207 Schemes is modular. This means organizations can become Third Party Certificated for one or more of the following modules: Design, Installation, Commissioning and/or Maintenance. Please specify which of these four modules you require to become Third Party Certificated for when contacting relevant Certification Bodies for assessment.

Step 1

Check requirements of the BAFE SP207 Scheme – download and read the BAFE SP207 Scheme Document (see Downloads). For this scheme you do not need ISO9001 certification. However, you are required to have robust quality Management Systems in place. This is explained in the scheme document (Clause 10). An internal review should be performed using this document to see if your organization complies with all the necessary requirements.

Step 2

UKAS Accredited Certification Bodies (licensed by BAFE) deliver the BAFE scheme assessments. Please contact your chosen Certification Body directly to discuss the BAFE SP207 assessment process and costs for this (BAFE SP207 fees are included within the Certification Body assessment costs, you do not pay any fees directly to BAFE for this Scheme).

Certification Body Contact Information for BAFE SP207 Assessment

Your chosen Certification Body will deliver the BAFE SP207 Scheme assessment and will also want to see evidence of work undertaken. On satisfactory completion of the assessment the applicant organization will be awarded Third Party Certification to the scope of BAFE SP207 (of the desired modules).

Step 3

When you have achieved Third Party Certification to the scope of SP207, your chosen Certification Body will inform BAFE directly of this (including information of a Primary Contact and any key personnel on BAFE’s request).

Step 4

Your organization will then be added to the BAFE Fire Safety Register online, which will enable all users searching for Third Party Certificated BAFE Registered Companies for this service to access your information.

BAFE will then send out a welcome pack including your BAFE SP207 Registration Certificate. At this point you will be permitted to display the BAFE SP207 logo and promote your BAFE SP207 Registration where appropriate (please contact BAFE for digital versions of the BAFE SP207 logo for use on web/print/vehicles).

Important Information
Once Third Party Certificated and BAFE Registered to BAFE SP207, your organization will be subject to ongoing assessments by your Certification Body (usually on an annual basis) to ensure that you continue to comply with the BAFE SP207 Scheme requirements.
Please note this scheme is operated by UKAS Accredited Certification Bodies on our behalf and BAFE Registration fees will be included within the Certification Body assessment costs. Please discuss this with the Certification Bodies that offer BAFE SP207 assessment for more information.
Ongoing costs may involve a nominal fee for the generation (and administration) of the Certificates of Compliance via your chosen Certification Body – Please refer to the BAFE SP207 Scheme Document and contact your chosen Certification Body directly regarding this.
