Government update on Fire Safety Bill and Building Safety Bill

Working Group 4 (Fire Risk Assessors) Information

In BAFE’s commitment to quality within the fire safety industry, BAFE contribute and participate in multiple committees dedicated to advancing fire safety practice. BAFE are represented by Chris Auger, Director of Schemes, for Working Group 4 which focusses on Fire Risk Assessors and competency to fulfil this vital work to a high standard.

In recent minutes published by Working Group 4, Government provided a brief overview:

Fire Safety Bill - The Bill progressed on 24 February through the third reading, when the Government accepted two amendments, and will now go the Lords on 17 March 2021 for its third reading. Subject to debate there may or may not be another round of readings, but if not, Royal Assent would be sought towards the end of March or early April.

Building Safety Bill Further to the parliamentary pre legislative scrutiny on the Building Safety Bill there is internal ongoing work to progress the Bill which remains on track as planned.
