At the end of October, BAFE will sadly see the retirement of Tony Maskens who has been Technical Schemes Manager since March 2009, when we moved the business to the Fire Service College at Moreton in Marsh.

With a background in certification and the commercial world, Tony was ideally placed to review and develop existing and new BAFE schemes and he has done an exceptional job in strengthening our relationship with vital stakeholders including UKAS, Certification Bodies, Trade Associations and Public Authorities.

He has been the driving force behind radically improving our own systems to allow for proactive monitoring of registered companies and dealing with complaints and misuse of the BAFE logo. Tony has done an enormous amount to raise the profile of third party certification of fire protection companies, notably in Scotland where he has built many valuable relationships with public sector bodies.

Tony will continue to carry out some specialist tasks on our behalf, but everyone associated with BAFE owes him an enormous debt of gratitude and wishes him well for the future. Fortunately we have an excellent new addition to the team with Chris Auger (Schemes Support Manager), who has been able to benefit from Tony’s experience and will now take the schemes development side forward into the future.
