Third Party Certification is important in our industry, for both individuals and companies alike.

It helps individuals, prospective clients, and professional bodies to identify that fire safety companies have achieved a set level of competency within the specialized role of the industry in which they are employed/offer services in. Also, that this competency level is checked at regular intervals by an independent UKAS Accredited organization.

With a company having Third Party Certification it helps to demonstrate the commitment of having safeguards in place, relevant to the competency levels of all who work within the company. In addition to this, it helps the company to monitor, analyze and facilitate ways in which they can improve the competency levels of the company and individuals within the company.

This provides prospective clients the confidence that the assessor and company have shown the competency levels at which they work.

Verification of Third Party Certification is important within the industry in several ways. This gives continual assessment of a company’s or individual’s work, i.e. evaluating the quality of procedures at a constant level.

BAFE SP205 Third Party Certificated Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) providers appear on the IFSM NAFRAR Register. Holding this specific Third Party Certification and verifying this when employing an assessor helps to identify several things:

  • The company’s assessors and verifiers core competency levels remain at a high level.
  • Evidence that all relevant items contained within a Fire Risk Assessment provided should conform to the Fire Safety Order.
  • Every FRA performed is checked to help maintain this level of competence within each assessment.
  • Assessors, and especially named Verifiers of Fire Risk Assessments performed are re-assessed during company audits at regular intervals.
