Do you believe UKAS Accredited Third Party Certification for the fire safety industry is an important measure in providing quality evidence of competency?

Definitely. I have come across so many people who have been instructed incorrectly and then pass false information to others. This way people can learn the correct way and pass on correct information. By being assessed by a Third Party their competency can be checked.

Why do you support BAFE's Don't Just Specify, Verify campaign?

We support the campaign because a major concern is that this verification process is not yet common behaviour. This oversight happens a lot, for example you have Fire Extinguisher company’s carrying out Fire Alarm work. Some of the technicians report sheets we have seen just go to show how bad this can be. We believe it should be a legal requirement that you can only work on systems that you have been third party assessed on.
