BAFE Adopted Schemes
SP103 Inspection, Testing, Refurbishment & Refilling of Portable Fire Extinguishers
This scheme in common with the other scheme for Portable Fire Extinguishers SP101 originated from a BSI Quality Assurance document and was adopted by BAFE in April 1995.
This scheme relates to work that is undertaken in a service workshop environment. The scope of work will very obviously vary depending on the given set of circumstances, it is very often not only the refilling but will extend to hydraulic testing and full refurbishment of extinguishers.
As with SP101/ST104, ISO 9001:2000 form the backbone of the scheme, the process for organisation wishing to gain BAFE registration in this scheme is very similar to that required for SP101/ST104. SP103 scheme document may be found on this website provides details of the requirements needed for approval.
