BAFE Adopted Schemes
SP202 Requirements for Fire Fighting Systems Firms
This standard specifies requirements for organisations engaged in design, installation and commissioning of fire fighting systems.
As with SP201 this scheme has it roots firmly in the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) and was again originated in the early 90’s to complement LPS1014 as it covers the suppression side of design, installation and commissioning and their scheme LPS 1204 refers.
As with all BAFE schemes ISO9001:2000 is required together with “installation rules” which may be national or international standards or codes of practice.
The purpose of this scheme is to ensure that companies responsible for designing and installing fixed fire fighting suppression systems do so in a controlled and professional manner.
The process by which the scheme controls the registered companies is very similar to that defined in SP201, with a certificate of conformity being the cornerstone of the operation.
