BAFE Adopted Schemes
SP201 Requirements for Certified Fire Detection & Alarm System Firms
This standard specifies requirements for organisations engaged in system design, installation, commissioning and servicing of fire alarm and detection systems.
The scheme document originated from the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) in the early 90’s, following a draft prepared by BFPSA, as means of controlling the entire design to servicing life cycle for alarm and detection companies with the aim of providing traceability throughout the work programme by means of certificates of conformity.
The LPCB scheme LPS1014 was submitted and adopted by BAFE to bring it to a wider audience.
As with all BAFE schemes ISO9001:2000 is required together with “installation rules” which may be national or international standards or codes of practice such as BS5839 or NFPA rules.
