What is BAFE?
BAFE is the independent third party registration body for the fire protection industry. For more than 25 years we have been developing schemes for UKAS accredited certification bodies to assess and approve companies to recognised standards. BAFE also provides independent examination services to leading training organisations for the portable extinguisher initial training requirements of BS5306-3. You can view recent newsletters and key documents below.
Companies, and in the case of the portable fire extinguisher maintenance scheme SP101/ST104, their technicians, who meet these standards can then display the prestigious BAFE logo as a registered company - a marque of approval that tells you that they are competent and regularly assessed.
BAFE is an independent, 'not for profit' organisation and our registered companies include manufacturers, installers and maintainers of fire protection products - including the major international companiesto small local businesses - with one thing in common: they have all invested in quality sytems and training to achieve their third party certification and BAFE registration.
This ensure that their clients get the benefit of knowing that they are dealing with competent suppliers.
BAFE Governance
The BAFE Council decides on policy and strategy and includes representation from the principle fire Trade Associations, Certification bodies, Government agencies, the Chief Fire officers Association and other representatives of the industry.
The BAFE Board is the legal body of the Limited Company (reg. no: 02001503) responsible for the financial and legal well being of the company.
Both bodies meet on a regular basis to review the work of the executive and determine future plans and policy matters.
The Chair of both bodies sits for a fixed term and is currently Phil Toase CBE QFSM DL, the former President of CFOA and Chief Fire Officer and Chief Executive of West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service.
